Dal Dhokli (Lentils tempered and served with savoury dumplings)

Today I will share one of my favorite, this is a kind of vegetable recipe (you can say that) which would be a great experience for you.
The overall cooking time of this very new recipe is between 15 and 20 minutes and ingredients listed below are enough to serve 4 people.

Ingredients:

• Curry Leaves 10
• Dried Red Chili (broken) 2
• Fenugreek Seeds (methi dana) ¼ teaspoon
• Mustard Seeds ¾ teaspoon
• Pure Ghee 2 tablespoons
• Peanuts 1 & ½ tablespoons
• Oil 2 tablespoons
• Asafoetida 2 pinches
• Red Chili Powder ¾ teaspoon
• Turmeric Powder ¾ teaspoon
• Salt to taste
• Gram Flour (besan) ¼ cup
• Whole Wheat Flour (aata) ¾ cup
• Split Pigeon Pea (toor dal / arhar dal – soaked) 1 cup
• Onion (finely chopped) 1 small
• Fresh Coriander Leaves (chopped) 2 tablespoons
• Lemon Juice 1 teaspoon
• Jaggery (gur – grated) 1 teaspoon
• Green Chili (paste) 1 & ½ teaspoons

Method:

Pick up gram flour and flour and mix well together. Add a pinch of asafetida, the chili powder, turmeric powder (one-fourth teaspoon), salt, sufficient water and half tablespoon oil, and make a stiff dough. Now take a thin roti and roll out this dough into it. Now brush oil onto that roti at both sides. Now cut that roti into diamonds, squares or strips style (as you want) and set aside.
Take split peagon pea, boil it into two cups of water, and add remaining turmeric powder and salt to taste. As you feel dal is half-cooked, add peanuts. Continue cooking until you get soft dal.
Pick up a non-stick pan, pore half of total ghee you have for this recipe, and add green chili paste, curry leaves, red chilies, remaining asafetida, fenugreek seeds and mustard seeds. Add cooked dal only after you feel you have spluttered seeds in the pan and stir.
Now bring the mixture to a boil level by adding two cups of water. Add the jaggery (gur) you have in ingredients and let the mixture cooked till it dissolves. Add dough strips and cook firmly just to avoid dough sticking to the pan’s bottom. Taste salt and adjust if necessary. You may take your pan off the heat once you feel the dough strips are cooked well. Now add lemon juice and gently stir.
Now serve hot by drizzling remaining part of ghee into this dal. You may use onion and chopped coriander for garnishing.
